Champagne and Wine Pairings for New Year’s Eve

Note: Dinner will be served from 5-9pm on New Year’s eve, and we’ll also have a $75 open bar and passed apps special and live entertainment!

Appetizer Special:

Start dinner off right with a creative appetizer.

Cured Salmon: Our elegant New Year’s Eve appetizer of cured salmon is served with watercress puree, horseradish creme, pickled onion, cornichon, and fennel baguette crisps.

It’s the perfect balance of salty and savory, and is guaranteed to help you work up an appetite for the delicious delights ahead.

Suggested pairings:

The saltiness of the salmon and pickled accoutrements makes a classic Champagne the perfect beverage accompaniment. Our menu boasts several champagnes by the bottle, and we also offer it by the glass.

If you prefer a “still” wine with your appetizer, cured salmon is a unique fish dish in that it can be paired with red or white wine. If you love red, try it with pinot noir; if it’s white that you crave, it’s great with a richly flavored Chardonnay.

Entree Specials:

Keep the good times coming with our special New Year’s Eve entrees.

Surf and Turf: Live it up with our epic take on surf and turf! This entree features a 24 ounce bone-in dry aged ribeye steak, Kalbi grilled shrimp, and truffle parmesan steak fries.

Suggested pairings:

If you’re going for bubbles, a dry sparkling wine or Champagne offers the perfect contrast to the rich flavors featured in this dish.

The unique co-mingling flavors of steak and shrimp also mean that you can get creative with your wine pairings. A Pinot Noir is a great choice that will work with both the steak and the shrimp, as would a dry Rose.

Or, you could decide to drink progressively as you eat, choosing a crisp white like Sauvignon Blanc to pair with the shrimp and a robust red like Cabernet to pair with the steak!

Chilean Sea Bass: If you love the flavors of the sea, you’ll adore our thoughtfully prepared Chilean Sea Bass entree, which is served with sweet potato puree, watercress, pear, and Madras curry.

Suggested pairings:

Our sparkling Rose offers a fascinating pairing with this dish, picking up the sweetness of the sweet potato and pear, yet having enough “oomph” to stand up to the flavor of the curry.

In terms of wine, a clean, crisp Pinot Grigio makes for the perfect pairing to the layers of flavor in this dish.

Dessert Special:

Don’t forget dessert! Finish 2018 on a sweet note with our dessert special.

Goat Cheese Pound Cake: This unforgettable cake is served with Champagne pressed strawberries and mascarpone Chantilly cream.

Suggested pairings:

A glass of Moscato D’Asti, a sweet sparkling wine, makes for a fantastic pairing with this unique dessert. Dessert wines such as Riesling or Port (both of which are available by the glass on our menu) are both worthy pairings as well.

Conclusion: New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to reflect on the amazing things that have happened in the past year and to look forward to a dazzling new year ahead. Hearthstone Cellar & Kitchen is the perfect place to celebrate with incredible food and the perfect champagne and wine pairings for every dish! We hope to ring in the new year with you!
