Say Cheese…Burger! It’s National Cheeseburger Day at Hearthstone

Celebrate National Cheeseburger Day at Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar

It’s National Cheeseburger Day at Hearthstone, so there is absolutely no way that you’re allowed to order a salad to try and “be healthy” (you know you’re going to steal someone’s fries anyway). Besides, Hearthstone has a healthy variation just for those who are health or environment-conscious, so everyone can participate in this national “holiday.” If it helps, you can pretend you’re at the Olympia Restaurant and there’s only one thing you can order anyway: cheeseburger, cheeseburger…no Coke!

The Legend of Lionel

You wouldn’t think that the novel idea of adding a slice of cheese to the already existing hamburger would be a feat documented by history, but we are the country that boasts such wonders as The World’s Largest Ball of Twine and Carhedge, so perhaps it isn’t such a stretch. Legend has it that in 1926, a young California teen named Lionel was flipping burgers at his pop’s place called “Rite Spot,” where either curiosity or an angel called and had him add a piece of cheese atop a burger. But hold onto your buns–there’s a twist: other reports state that it was a homeless man walking by that suggested young Lionel add the cheese to the burger. For those wondering what the true story is, know that Lionel’s last name was Sternberger–which isn’t necessarily proof but it is pretty darn cute.

Cheese Cheese Me

Once the first slice of cheese hit the top of that broiling meat, it was only a matter of time before other types of cheese would come looking to steal its glory. Today, according to the Rachel Ray show, America actually has a Top Ten list for favorite cheeses for cheeseburgers. We’re not a nation for irony, apparently, because American cheese is ranked the most-preferred choice at 66%. Cheddar is close on its heels with 65%, and Swiss is hanging in at the number three spot with 43%. Pepper Jack, Provolone, Colby, Muenster, Gouda, Havarti, and Gruyere close out the rest of the list, with a notable absence of Blue Cheese among the ranks. Maybe that’s because it makes the burger sad?

They’ve Got the Meats…and Not Meats

Do you know why the cheeseburger fought the veggie burger? Because it had beef. Luckily, that would be infeasible with Hearthstone’s Impossible Burger because even though it’s made from plants, it tastes legitimately like the real thing. It comes with vegan American cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, avocado spread, and vegan burger sauce so those who practice can stay on track with taste and dietary options. Have no fear, however, as Hearthstone has the classic certified Angus beef cheeseburger as well with pimento cheese, pickle sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion as well. If that stack doesn’t seem tall enough, you can add an egg, bacon, or avocado for an additional charge and extra oomph.

Want some extra cheese? Here’s some: how many vegans does it take to eat a bacon cheeseburger? One if nobody’s looking. All jokes aside, Hearthstone has a way for everyone to enjoy National Cheeseburger Day!
